Creating smoke using procedural textures

Render a single frame. You can leave the Anti-aliasing settings in the Off position, you don't actually need any anti-aliasing. You should have something similar to this image.

 

By animating the position and rotation of the texture (click on the E marked next to the Z position of the texture) you can achieve the speed and behaviour you want for your specific project. It is important to have the same motion both for Color and Transparency channels in order to be able to see through the smoke.
