NewTek Europe at 3D Festival 2003 |
NewTek Europe will be attending,
sponsoring and hosting at this year's event.
17th April 2003, Bordeaux:
NewTek Europe is hosting a user meeting for the evening
of the 7th May after the Lord of the Rings
conference at 3D Festival in order to bring users
of NewTek products together. The first ever public
presentation of the Video Toaster [3] in Europe and
a demo of LightWave will be followed by nibbles and
drinks. William "Proton" Vaughan and Ben "no nickname"
Vost will be on hand to chat to users of LightWave
about their uses of the software and to share a beer
or two with attendees. Anyone interested in attending
should register now at the NewTek Europe website.
Early registrants will be entered into a draw to
win
a copy of LightWave 7.5, NewTek's award-winning 3D
animation package.
NewTek Europe managing director
Franck Lafage says "We feel that the unique community
feel of the 3D Festival is a great match for us with
our focus on the users of our products and we feel
it's natural to be hosting our user event here."
In addition to our user meeting
we are pleased to be sponsoring the highly entertaining
"History of 3D Graphics" evening - an event planned
in conjunction with the influential 3D World magazine
and recounting the tale behind the progress of and
increasing reliance on CG for all kinds of short-form
and long-form projects in the cinema and on television
today. Hosted by Jim Thacker, editor of 3D World magazine;
Isaac Kerlow, well-known Disney animator and other
3D greats, the evening event will be a look back at
the things that have made CG great. "This is going
to be one hell of a cool event", says Leonard Teo,
Managing Director of CGNetworks. "It's not every day
that you get three industry luminaries (Isaac Kerlow,
Rob Coleman and Jeff Kleiser) in the same room, explaining
to you HOW 3D came to be. We're extremely happy to
be part of this event with NewTek and 3D World."
The grand finale of the evening
will be an account of the ten most influential CG
events so far, as chosen by visitors to CGTalk. NewTek
Europe will be presenting a copy of LightWave 7.5
along with a set of five training DVDs by the well-known
animator Todd Grimes to the winners of the draw among
voters for the most influential CG ever in the poll
conducted by CGTalk at http://www.cgtalk.com/history3d/.
