Eighty-three contestants, but only one winner! Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela, 18, was crowned Miss Universe Sunday August 23rd in Paradise Islan, Bahamas.

TriCaster™ was actually used to produce and live stream exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage of the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant on NBC.com and Miss Universe.com.
The webcasts featured the presentation show, the crowning moment and the coronation ball, all three being WORLDWIDE FIRSTS.
Coverage also included an interview with VIP Donald Trump and a live webcast with Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag (from MTV’s The Hills) and others.
More than 250,000 people had viewed a live stream of the 2009 Miss Universe Presentation Show (preliminary event) on August 16th –remember there was no accompanying broadcast event to drive traffic! It was the first time the preliminary competition was streamed to a worldwide audience, thanks to Ustream & NewTek.
On the 23rd, an estimated global television audience of one billion people saw the teenager beat competitors from 83 countries to win the coveted title, and the live stream was a huge success with over 500,000 views of the exclusive web events.
