In searching of reliable solutions, the Vietnam
TV team found Cologne-based Video Toaster dealer Vietex to install a TV edit suite in the middle of the city, host to several of the matches in this year's competition. The Vietnam
TV producer had already been able to see the Video Toaster in action at a colleague's studio in Vietnam, so naturally he opted for the TV Studio-in-a-box proposed by our reseller.
Vietex's director,
Tho Nguyen Xuan, himself of Vietnamese origin
described the installation that he supervised
in close collaboration with Trinh
Long Vu, head of VTV's Sportchannel to us.
Vietnam TV is broadcasting between five and six sessions daily from the Cologne studio via satellite uplink directly to Hanoi. The connection is made through SDI between the Uplink-Kit and VT[4] Live!
The VT[4]-System is the main part of the studio. Every video machine and all the audio equipment is connected to the HP-XW 8200 workstation with a 19" rack, working 14-15 hours a day.
The audio is running separately on a Behringer 16-channel mixer so that the director can concentrate exclusively on video switching with the RS-8 T-bar switcher. His audio assistant is sitting right next to him.
A graphics assistant helps the director to play back the DDR to switch and insert graphics.
The NLE editors, working with Adobe Premiere, are connected to VT[4] so that so that they can directly import their editing into the session.
A slow-motion machine is also connected to the VT[4] so that they can play out directly on VT[4] and show the best moments in the match.
"This install of the
VT[4] with separate audio has been extremely
efficient and stable", declared Tho Nguyen
Xuan. "The
Chromakey was also invaluable" he added.
"My VTV team was astounded
at the small facility supplied by Vietex Media.
VT[4] allows to do everything: Live talkshow, editing,
graphic presentation, chromakey..It's all in the
box! And the VT[4] unit is working every days from
9.00 to 23.00 without any problem! said Mr. Trinh
Long Vu. "Our operator has been trained only for a few days on a similar VT[4] system in Vietnam and now he can operate the system perfectly." he added. |
