What was the overall team size on Alien Hunter?

Approx. 35 people were responsible for the effects on this film. They were split pretty evenly between 3D and 2D artists Plus there are an additional 4 or 5 colour correction and frame cleanup staff.

Some of the shots we have pictures for look incredible? Did you use LightWave for them, or were you forced to go to Houdini, which is better known for such work?

Although I love Houdini, we've been LightWave-based since the beginning. It's the best bang for the buck and can equal or exceed anything I've seen from other packages.

How did you do the twirling storm cloud kind of thing at the end of the film?

It's all wireframe models and textures in LightWave. Basically we built the entire environment in LightWave to scale based upon production illustrations that were created by my VFX illustrators. Then we matched the LightWave camera to the action of the real camera. After that everything was composited together in Digital Fusion. We don't really use a lot of plug-ins, so most of the textures in the whole of Alien Hunter can be created out of the box with LightWave.

Will you be making more films for the Sci Fi Channel?

Sci Fi has responded very favourably to this movie, and now we are currently working on the next film for the channel, "The Idaho Creature Incident". This one is more of a traditional monster movie. There are another four films for Sci Fi on the slate right now. Between these and our other films, I expect we will be very busy this year!

Thanks for taking time out to speak to us Scott. I look forward to your upcoming productions!
