How did you make the intro
animations for Aura?
It was a tool specially
designed for the job where you could choose a
brush, its size and colour, and it would record
all your actions so that it could then dynamically
recreate the build-up of the picture.
I was always fascinated
by the animations by Michaël Gaumnitz in
the eighties and I've always found a kind of magic
to watching a drawing being created while I'm
watching. The artist leads us where he wants to
go, the spectator is guided by the progress.
I knew about this kind
of tool in videographers' palettes back then at
Beaux Arts and it was that that pushed me to encourage
Hervé Adam and Sébastien Miglio
to go a bit further and integrate such a tool
into Aura (the stroke recorder).
These days, I often
go for a walk with a sketchpad and some of the
ideas become intros for Aura, which I then put
on my website for download.
