Are there any plug-ins you wouldn't be without? (I mean apart from your own!)

Over the years I've gathered quite a collection of plug-ins, but most of them I use rather randomly. I really can't even remember which of them ship with LightWave, and which are 3rd party...

I've been looking forward to a job that would justify buying Impact 3 - but unfortunately we haven't needed hard body dynamics lately.

A lot can be done with plain vanilla LightWave. But whenever it feels like something would be better done with a 3rd party plug-in, I first head off to Flay. If I can't find anything that fits the bill there, I may start thinking about writing my own. Many of the scripts I've done have started this way.

What's your background in programming?

Apart from writing simple text games in Commodore 64, none... It was just something like two years ago when I really got into it. I still consider myself a novice when it comes to coding.

Tell me a bit about the company you are working for (Program) and what you do there...

AKMP Program ltd is a full service production house located in Helsinki, Finland. We do everything from daily / weekly TV programs to documentaries, commercials, print, web - we even run a radio station called Sport FM (Yep, we do a lot of sports here...). We have a staff of roughly 30, 8 of which work in the "TV department". There's two of us doing graphics.

I'm best described a "Jack of all trades - master of none"... I spend most of my days editing, compositing and doing graphics, be it 2D or 3D. It's also mostly my duty to keep the systems up and running.

But I also shoot and direct occasionally - we just finalized a 10 part documentary series on Finnish architects, I was the director of photography and editor on that job. The series was produced by little margie productions in cooperation with Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE).

Have you got some shots from Program we could have that you're particularly proud of?

The ones I'm most proud of probably won't work too well in this interview - I'm probably most proud of the shots where we've added something in the shot, and (hopefully) no-one realises there's anything in CGI. The problem with this kind of shots is - that (hopefully) no-one will find the 3D additions ;-)

Here's a little background info.
