When you said you made puppets, did you mean that you made animations?

Yes, we mean animated puppets. It was hard explain our work to him, but when he saw our DVD he realized that... well, he realized that we make animated puppets!

Tell me more about your black and white fifties sci-fi movie?

We made it for an advertising agency in Rome. They commissioned us a commercial for the web about communications, so we wrote, designed and animated "It flies to the earth from outer space".

We think the character must have been involved in other violent situations (just look at his face: don't you want to beat him up too?)

So we started writing and working on this project, making it into a series that deals with the difficulties in living in harmony, the problems of communication that arise.

Have you made any of the series yet?

We are in pre-production now, but we are already doing some tests with LightWave. The characters and the original soundtrack are almost ready and we love it!

Will you keep the same kind of camera motions (the locked off camera, the stuttering shots he used, the slow pull backs) as Robert Wise used for "The Day the Earth Stood Still"?

We like Robert Wise. We tried to make a parody of that kind of camera motion too, especially for the slow motions. Yes, in "It flies to the earth from outer space" you can find the same kind of feeling in camera motions.

Is your work being shown at any animation festivals?

Yes, we were selected for "Animamund", Brazil for "It flies to the earth from outer space".

What are the Liza files?

We made Liza for an ad-company in Roma that uses big wall made of TV monitors screwed down a van. The van made the tour of the town with Liza talking from the monitors. Funny. In July, Liza stopped working on those vans and she's looking for another job. In the meantime she's working at Ectonull as a secretary...

Thanks for talking to us guys and we look forward to seeing your "It flies..." series! You can see more of Marco and Gianni's work at their website.
