We interview Dino "Mascio" Mascitelli about his work on forthcoming sideways scrolling shoot-em-up T-Zwei and his love of the work of Keith Haring.

How old are you?

I'm 26 years old and I'm living in a little town in the centre of Italy. Near Rome. The town's name is Avezzano.

When did you see LightWave for the first time?

The first time I saw LightWave was about nine years ago. When I was using a little 486 DX 66 with 8MB of RAM!

When did you first start using it?

Nine years ago I was using 3D Studio and then I saw LightWave and it's metanurbs modelling system. A revolution. It was a revolution for my 3D!

What do you like about the package?

Understanding LightWave was immediate for me. It was simple. Every tool in exactly the right place. It changed my views about 3D.

What did you think about 3D before you saw LightWave?

What did I think about 3D before I saw LightWave? I truly had a lot of trouble to make good models. I abandonned the 3D world once, twice - three times. I don't know why I came back to model, model and to try... to try... to try.

Every time I saw 3D pictures in 3D magazines I was fascinated and I wanted to be able to make those things too. Animation? Too much for me 10 years ago!

What could be improved for you in LightWave 3D?

mmm... three things:

First of all the manuals with an exhaustive appendix about the use of expressions.
An integrated rigid body dynamics system.
Some sort of script commander for Modeler.

What spec machine(s) are you using it on at the moment?

I'm using 2 machines: a dual AMD and a single AMD at 2GHz. Both with 512MB RAM and a Quadro 2 video card.

Are there any plug-ins you wouldn't be without?

Yes! Impact and Sasquatch.

Tell us more about T-Zwei.

The ATLANTEQ team has entirely programmed a Real Time Engine based on LightWave 3D. The Atlanteq3D Engine fully supports LightWave 3D scenes, objects, textures, motion etc., and it is growing very quickly with a lot of new features. If you have questions, or if you want more information about T-Zwei and the Atlanteq3D Engine, email the Atlanteq team directly at info@atlanteq.it.

When will it be out?

I think in June. Now we are finishing the animation of final monsters for each level.

Will it be extendible by players?

No, this version won't be player-expandable. Perhaps in a future T-Zwei 2, or better yet T-Drei!
